Classy. Edgy. Fun!

Meet Pyxie

Hi, I’m Jaymie…with a ‘y’. My close friends and husband also know me as Pyxie…with a ‘y’.

I’m a breast cancer survivor and have been in remission since 2011. It was a very emotionally (and physically) draining hardship. I count myself lucky and extremely thankful to have such a loving and supporting husband, family and friends!

It was actually my journey through cancer that motivated me to do photography full time. I’m now doing what I love, and love what I’m doing. Oooh yeah!

My family is my everything. I have a big one! Lucky for me, my husband, Logan, has a big family too. We welcomed our first baby, Emberlyn, in 2015 and I simply ADORE her! Every day I fall in love with her even more.

Wanna know a secret? I used to cosplay (dress up as anime/video game characters). I’m still a big anime otaku and enjoy reading mangas and watching K-dramas. And books…I am a total nerd for fantasty and fiction! My favorite authors right now are John Flannagan and Brent Weeks.

One of my greatest passion is riding my motorcycle! I ride a 2015 KTM Duke 390 which is my favorite bike I’ve owned. It’s orange, has enough power for what I need, and ridiculously easy to maneuver. Whether it’s mutli-day road trips, an overnight beach camping trip, day ride through the foothills, track days at Reno-Fernley or Thunderhill, or just a quick ride to our moto meetups…the ride itself is the destination. It’s my form of meditation and relaxation.

My other passions? PHOTOGRAPHY! Wether it’s being behind the camera taking the photos or being in front of it goofing off, there’s so much I love about capturing moments. My dad constantly captured photos of us as we were growing up and I’m thankful that both my parents and in-laws preserved old photographs from their good ol’ days. I never tire of flipping through them and reminiscing of the past or wondering what life was like for the parents. Yes, we can never go back in time but the memories are forever captured in photos.

As for my style? I don’t really have just one in particular. For me, it really depends on the personality and taste of my clients. I’m very good at posing people but I also enjoy capturing the candid moments. Every session is a mixture of both! You can’t really tell your story without one, and you need the other for those pretty wall canvas/desk/print and Facebook profile image.

Smile if you’d like. But we can capture some pretty darn rock solid images with serious faces too! And crying babies…well…*mischievous grin* I like capturing the tears and puffy faces. I think they’re still adorable!

Cheers,

Jaymie ‘Pyxie’ Smith
